January in Swanton Novers

Time to add my round up of January in Swanton Novers Parish.

2012 started very well with 8 COMMON CRANE drifting South over the village hall on the 1st January, calling all the time. Amazingly, 7 also flew west past the house on the 4th January!

Whilst out looking for the local Barn Owls on the 10th January, a Grey Partridge was a welcome addition to my patch list (I have only been here a year...) and it was nice to get Woodcock flying over the garden on the 14th Jan.

With the usual suspects that knock around the parish, I recorded a healthy 52 species by the end of January...although completely failed to see the small flock of House Sparrows at the end of my road...
