Jack and Common Snipe !

Met up with Rob and Mrs Rob ( The Lovely Lucy ) to have a go at re-finding the Jacker from last night , upon arrival @ the flood plain, it was evident that it had started to flood ;-) with 9 Mallard , 1 Grey Heron and 2 LITTLE EGRETS feeding on it , luckily the area that the Jack Snipe was in last night was not under water , within 2 minutes it had flushed about 3 feet from me and we had a great view as it flew out of sight towards the little pond on the otherside of the stream.

There was a large flock of finches that were at the northern edge , but too far away to bother identifying ( probably Linnets )

After I left Rob and Lucy , I decided to head to the wet area near the Boules field in Bancroft Park , to search for Woodcock , no luck but as i was heading back towards the Roman Ruins , a COMMON SNIPE flushed ahead of me (YT - 54 ) , also seen were another LITTLE EGRET , 4 BULLFINCHES ( 2 Pairs, different to earlier ones - over 2 miles apart ! ) and quite a few Redwings and Song Thrushes roosting.

Great evening birding again ! - Love this patching malarky ;-)

Si
