Buntings are back !

A 45 minute bike ride around the southern end of the patch ( Lodge Lake and Bradwell Abbey ) didnt produce any year ticks but did have a few highlights.

2 LITTLE EGRETS , they show really close along the river , but alas no great camera like messers Blain and Wilson. , quite a few Redwings were feeding along the river. Lodge Lake itslf held a pair of Cormorant on the raft and a pair of GC Grebes displaying .... which was nice ! I am getting really worried about Ducks now ..... I think it might be a lean year , I might have to extend the patch to include Furzton ;-)

The little area of passerine hedgerow still held at least 1 female BULLFINCH and the GOLDCREST , but little else

I stopped next at the reedbed and pished for a few minutes , attracting Greenfinches, Redwings and best of all 6 REED BUNTINGS , all males !

Still waiting for the Little Grebes to make their appearance !
