Full of hope ...
I went to bed happy in the knowledge that our first full day on the islands was going to score high.
I was slightly wrong
Mark is the perfect roomie, He brought shower gel, Porridge, Cider and Milk - Perfect for early mornings (apart from the Cider :-))
So after a hearty breakfast we set out to find the biggee ...
We did find something, but more of that later.
Checking out our garden ( we are staying at Longstone Lodges) we had 16 Siskin fly over first thing and a Chaffinch - clearly things on the move ...
We then decided to walk the entire coastal path ... That wasn't the best idea ever :-)
15.4 miles later
1 Yellow Browed Warbler Newford Duck Pond
Sparrowhawk and Merlin
2 Whimbrel in Pelistry bay
4 Wheatears
6 Pink Footed Geese at Porthellick
were the highlights, 1 Chiffchaff did not bode well ...
Late afternoon Mark was showing me a quarry at the Deep point and telling me how he had seen two Wrynecks in there on previous trips, we walked through and nothing , we had got to the end and boom, a WRYNECK flew from the rocks at the end back towards Deep point, we got some great views on the rocks and Gorse before it flew back to the quarry and we left it in peace
So never a bad day finding a Wryneck, but no sniff of Yanks yet
Tomorrow should be better ...
I promise Pics to come soon !
The Locals were friendly ...
