4 October 2020 - Another quick morning visit to Holme

Sunday morning and I couldn't resist getting out with the reports of common migrants appearing yesterday afternoon and eastern scarcities along the East coast of the UK.

Parking at the first car park, by the gate, I was almost immediately greeted by a Ring Ouzel flying South overhead calling. This was followed by a couple of Fieldfare and some Redwing. There were also a good number of Pink-feet passing noisily over.

I quickly picked up the pale Lesser Whitethroat in the scrub behind the houses, heading west towards the golf course, followed by a Redstart. A lone Brambling was flying around with a handful of Chaffinches and there were a good number of Song Thrushes and Blackbirds on the bushes with berries.

Supported by Blackcaps, a couple of Lesser Whitethroat, the odd Chiffchaff and a lot of Goldcrests, it certainly felt like something was going to turn up...but I had to go home. I did manage to finish up with a Yellow-browed Warbler back at the car park.

Mark.
